Sharewares is a business is that help accelerate Vancouver's transition to a circular (zero-waste) economy using innovative technology and the city's existing infrastructure.
I was hired as Industrial Designer and project lead to help plan, design and upgrade the commercial building Sharewares is currently located in. My responsibility was to upgrade the current capabilities to increase capacity for cleaning and sanitizing reusable food containers.
The scope of this project included liaising with engineers, city planning, electricians and plumbers to facilitate the upgrade. I had to research and implement all the components that it needs to build a facility that could process 10000 to 50000 units a day while strictly adhering to the Fraser and Vancouver Health requirements for a facility like this one.
As an Industrial designer I was tasked with designing "Collection stations" for the products as well as do the process design for the facility, working with the ware washers to optimize and consider ergonomics in their daily interactions for the best and safest possible flow of work.
At the end of the project my job designation was redefined as the inhouse generalist that co-designed, upgraded and partly install a large part of the facility infrastructure.
